I perceive the FSAG Higher Education Policy as a cherished
dream. It gives me immense pleasure to materialize one of the
th resolutions of our 30 General Chapter in the form of FSAG Higher
Education Policy of our Congregation. It is the fruit of the team work of
the Committee headed by Sr. Dr. A Antony Maria Jansi, the General
Education Coordinator.
With regard to Higher Education we have a long way to go. Yet
opening an opportunity for the rural young women to continue their
studies and promoting them to Higher Education is a felt need. As days
go by the society is facing a lot of problems, to hold on and safe guard
the republic sovereign nature of our nation. Higher education is the need
of the hour that women should join hands in the struggle with profound
knowledge and understanding the problems and to find solutions.
Orienting the youth in the right direction is a felt to be vital, in order to
have equality and to guide the humanity.
Policy in general is a guide line and this policy is to be practiced by
all in the Higher Education ministry as a reference point to enable us to
achieve our goal systematically and effectively. I am sure that all of us
familiarize with the policy and absorb its spirit and put into meaningful
practice to the maximum.
May I appreciate and thank Sr. Dr. AAntony Maria Jansi FSAG the
General Education coordinator and the Province Education
coordinators Sr. Dr. Jona Maria Selvi, Sr. Josephine Therese Revathi
and Sr. Mathi Margaret with the help of the educationists Fr. Dr. S.
Emmanual SJ, and Fr. Dr. M Sahayaraj SJ, for their effort in bringing
out the FSAG Higher Education policy.
I hope that every sister who is involved in higher education
apostolate, may follow this policy, executing each and every part of it
putting it into action to have transparency in our governance to have
novelty and uniqueness in our higher Education.

I am delighted that we are able to reach the culmination of the workshop
conducted at different levels to discuss to draft Higher Education Policy
for our Institutions. The policy consists of all the elements like the
functions and responsibilities of the commissions, Roles of the
authorities of Governing body members, administrators of the
Institutions, specific job descriptions of superior, secretary
/correspondent, Principal and Vice-Principal, etc., Staff selection and
appointment procedures, admission priorities, Decision making at
different levels. These are policies to be implemented by the
administrators and followed by all to have the role clarity and for better
administration of our Institutions. Following them we also realize the
vision and mission of our congregation by showing preferential option
for Dalits and marginalized sections of the society.
Education assists in the total formation of each individual within the
human community the fullest development of all talents: intellectual,
imaginative, affective, and creative, effective communication skills,
physical , the balanced person. Through our Education ministry we
want to form the students with integral personality and men and
women who stand for social justice and rights and take the side of the
economically poor, socially oppressed, and politically marginalized.
They should become instruments of a new social order and agents of
social change.
I am indebted to Rev. Fr. Dr. S Emmanual SJ, and Fr. Dr. M Sagayaraj SJ
for helping me to prepare the out sketch of the policy and rendering their
helping hands giving direction for the workshops on FSAG Education
Policy. My sincere thanks to the core committee composed of the
Education Coordinators of the Provinces Sr. Dr. Jona Maria Selvi, Sr.
Josephine Therese Revathi and Sr. Mathi Margaret for their support to
conduct workshop at different levels at the Province, Under Generalate
Institutions and all the administrators and to complete this work.
